Reflecting on the Past, Looking Forward to the Future!
The year 2015 has come and gone. This was the year where I became a TFA alumna, went on my first trip skydiving, traveled to new places, and overcame many of life’s obstacles. As I look back on this year, I can’t help but to be amazed at how much God has truly blessed me, kept me safe, and molded me into a better disciple for Him. With the year 2015 nearing to an end, I can’t wait to see how God will continue to work in my life in the year 2016.
Every year I create a list of goals and it serves as a reminder of things that I will commit to doing for the ENTIRE year. I first started doing this with my best friend Rachel back in my college days and I have found it to be very rewarding. We used to hold “Goal-Setting Parties” in which we purchased posters to write our New Year’s resolutions. We hung those posters for the entire year and held each other accountable throughout the year. There were times where we slacked on our resolutions with life’s distractions but having that poster hanging on our walls served as a reminder for us to get ourselves together! I surely do miss those days. Nowadays, I write my goals in my prayer journal and flip back to that page throughout the year. I think this year I’ll transfer my goals to a poster and hang it up in my room 😀
My focus scriptures for the year 2016 are as follows:
2 Timothy 2:15-16, 23-26
Colossians 3:13, 17, 23-24
For the year 2016, my prayer is this:
Dear Father, let your word continue to guide my thoughts and actions and allow for your light to continue to shine from within me so that others can see you through me. I pray that I do not lose sight of who’s in control and what my purpose is in this life. I pray that I continue to get your peace and joy and gain your wisdom and the knowledge to discern your holiness from wickedness. Daddy, I want to continue to hear from you, to find comfort in your presence, and that your spirit continues to marinate within my soul. Lord, I want to be the best daughter that I can be, the best friend, teacher, sister, and leader that I can possibly be. I want to live for you Lord and not for others so if need be, I will remind myself everyday to surrender all to you, take up my cross, and follow you daily. I love you God, so much. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
