Thankful Thursdays: No Greater Love

When I listen to the song No Greater Love, I am reminded of God’s love for us through His son Christ Jesus who died for us and paid for our sins. There used to be a time where I would look to people, materialistic things, food, and drinks to fill the emptiness inside of me. Those things would fill my emptiness temporarily and I would always go back to the same people, the same unhealthy foods, the same stores and shops, the same liquor, and the same parties to fulfill my needs. Back then I was a Sunday Christian who did whatever I wanted, from Monday-Saturday. I would run everywhere else but to Him. But after a few years of running towards temporary pleasures, I decided a while back to pick up my Bible, drop down to my knees, and pray when times got rough and let me tell you…that was the most wisest decision I ever made.

Let me be clear in saying that I am by no means perfect. I still have a myriad of things that I have to learn about my walk with Christ as well as a multitude of scriptures and lessons that I am in the process of internalizing in order to look more like my Father. What I do know is that I am not the same person I was 7 years ago, 1 year ago, or even a few days ago. I make it my mission to deny myself and take up my cross daily. This journey, with the help of The Daniel Plan and my pastors has challenged me to become a mirror image of my Father by practicing the greatest commandment: love one another.

So on this Thursday, I am thankful for a love that cannot be beat by any man in this world. Romans 8:38-39 says, “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor power, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (NKJ)

What are you thankful for?
