[Update] The Daniel Plan: Staying Focused
It’s been 3 days since I started the Daniel Plan and let me tell you, I had a rough start. It has a lot to do with my preparedness. I waited until today, Saturday, to go to the groceries and properly stock my fridge and pantry with appropriate items and I have yet to take part in any form of workout. I also felt a cold creeping upon me on Day 1, which wavered my focus. On the other hand, I have been consistently reading scriptures and praying regularly, which was my primary goal when preparing for The Plan.
As of Day 3, the strongest challenge that I have is staying focused. There are many temptations and distractions that may pull me in one direction but I have to set my heart and mind on finishing strong. I have to remind myself that if I give in to temptations I may miss the reward that may be waiting for me at the finish line. The rewards I can expect from this Plan include a stronger relationship with Him, loving and caring for my body as a holy temple, and self-discipline in fitness and food.
I am declaring it now: I am trusting God to lead me and direct my ways throughout this Plan! 2 Timothy 4:7 says, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (NKJ). This 40 day journey will have it’s challenges but in 37 more days I WILL confess that I’ve fought, I’ve kept faith, and I’ve finished the race! Heather Mercer said it best, “Dear friends, do not lose heart! Races are not always won by the swift, but simply by those who keep on running. In the end it will be worth it all!”
